The best stationery stores in South Korea Part I

A tour of the best stationery stores in South Korea

We hope you have your batteries charged and your bags packed because we are going on another trip to the most special stationery stores. This time... To South Korea, the capital Seoul in particular. We know how much you love their products and how excited you are, so let's get straight to the point.

READY? LET'S TAKE OFF

SANGSANGMADANG (KT & G)

Our first stop on this route through South Korea.

This is a whole cultural events building (concerts, exhibitions, etc.) in the center of Hongdae. On the first floor there is a wide variety of local Korean stationery, where you can learn and recognize the Korean style of stationery better.

ARTBOX

Chain of stores located throughout Korea.
It's better to see it than to describe it, so let's get to it. Without anesthesia and straight in!
There is not only stationery but also very cute lifestyle products.

Sekaido

OBJECT (MAPO-GU)

Stationery concept store. Yes, it sounds very modern, but the important thing is what it means and what we are going to see inside and leave with our hands full of beauties.
Well, it is a place where several local artists and small brands have come together to sell their products to the public in a more direct and accessible way.

I know… We love everything that is artisanal, local and unique. It will be one of your favorite places, you'll see. I can assure you that you will have products so beautiful and exclusive that everyone will want them and ask you where they are from…

HOTTRACKS

As a stationery store chain, you can find several throughout Seoul, but we are going to take you to the one we like the most: Kyobo Hottracks. When we get there, you will see why it is our favorite. It is the largest and most complete.

Whatever you're looking for from the most popular brands... you'll find it there. You won't leave without buying, we warn you. Besides stationery, you can also get CDs from your favorite Kpop artists.

RECORDER STORE

Okay, so here we're going to take you on our turf and take a detour to one of our personal favorite stores.

Maybe it's not your style, we know that, but it's worth it, even if it's just to see all the material they have. Not only at the stationery level, they also have accessories, stuffed animals, etc.
All with a very distinctive and tangible Korean style. You may not know what style we are talking about until you see it, but it is very distinctive. We got to know the store through its creator and designer, whom we follow on a personal level, and we wanted to show you something more “personal.”

DONGDAEMUN (WHOLESALE STATIONERY STREET)

And we left the best and most tiring part, let's not kid ourselves, for last. We can't finish this route through South Korea without passing through one of the most emblematic streets and a must-see for stationery lovers.

This is an entire street FULL of wholesale stationery. As you can imagine, the price is very juicy, but the style is very specific. They are school supplies and “neighborhood” supplies. We could consider it as a kind of “flea market” because we can find incredible relics and national jewels (old Korean papers, old and authentic prints, etc.) As well as pens and materials from your cartoons when you were little.

Honestly, it's more about living the experience and having that unique and authentic experience than the material we can find in it.

The end of our first tour of the streets of Korea has arrived. How did you enjoy it? You've made a note of everything and prepared your wish list so you don't miss anything... We hope so.

Take a break from this trip and replenish your energy (and your wallet) for the second part of stationery shopping in Korea, in which we will take you to "secret" stationery stores that we have saved and other stationery stores outside the capital ;)
